The 2022/2023 season was fantastic, as it set two records. One that has stood since the 1992 inception of the Premier League and another that might not be as much of a record as perhaps more notorious as a record no team wants to repeat: The most expensive goal ever!

The 2021/2022 season saw Cristiano Ronaldo return to Manchester United. That first season, he scored 18 goals. But in the 2022/2023 season, Ronaldo scored his only goal on October 9. He came on as a substitute and scored his 700th career club goal in a 2–1 win against Everton. On 22 November, Ronaldo’s contract was terminated. I won’t get into Ronaldo’s history and issues with the club, as that isn’t part of the data. You can read that on ESPN.

Below is the range of goals and salary from 2011/2012 to 202/23. In the upper right corner, you will see Erling Haaland’s 36 goals and $52 million (Euros) in salary, and in the upper left corner, Ronaldo and one goal for which Manchester United paid $62 million (Euros).
